Your Rights Under GDPR

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have the following rights:

Right to Access
Request a complete copy of all personal data we hold about you, including how we use it and who we share it with.
Right to Rectification
Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal data we hold about you. We will update it within 30 days.
Right to Erasure
Request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten"). We will delete your account and associated data within 30 days.
Right to Restrict Processing
Request that we limit how we use your data while a complaint is being resolved or while you verify accuracy.
Right to Data Portability
Receive your personal data in a structured, machine-readable format (JSON or CSV) to transfer to another service.
Right to Object
Object to processing of your data for direct marketing or where we rely on legitimate interests as our legal basis.
Rights re: Automated Decisions
Not be subject to decisions made solely by automated processing that significantly affect you. We do not use such systems.
Right to Lodge a Complaint
Lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority if you believe we have mishandled your data.

Who Is the Data Controller

Legal Bases for Processing

We process your personal data under the following legal bases:

  • Contract performance: Processing necessary to provide the LetShareIt service you have signed up for, including account management, file storage, and transfer functionality.
  • Legitimate interests: Fraud prevention, security monitoring, product improvement based on aggregated usage data, and communication about service changes.
  • Consent: Marketing communications and optional analytics. You can withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legal obligation: Compliance with applicable laws, court orders, and regulatory requirements.

How to Exercise Your Rights

To exercise any of your GDPR rights, you can: (1) Log into your account and use the data export or account deletion features in Settings, (2) Email our DPO at support@letshareit.com with "GDPR Request" in the subject line, or (3) Use our contact form at letshareit.com/contact. We will respond to verified requests within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity before processing your request.

International Data Transfers

Letshareit is headquartered in the India. When we transfer your personal data outside the EEA, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place. We use Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission for transfers to our service providers. A list of our sub-processors and applicable safeguards is available on request.

Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. After account deletion, we delete personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g., billing records for up to 7 years for tax purposes). Uploaded files are deleted immediately upon account deletion or link expiry, whichever comes first.

CCPA Rights (California)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA): the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete your personal information, the right to opt out of the sale of your personal information (we do not sell personal information), and the right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights. To exercise CCPA rights, contact us at privacy@letshareit.com.

Supervisory Authorities

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. In the EU, this is your national Data Protection Authority (DPA). In the UK, this is the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk. In the US, relevant authorities vary by state.
